What if… Trayvon Martin was a thug?

Jul 15

I saw the following meme on Facebook the other day…

This is sort of the typical representation that we get from social media and news media. People blindly reposting information without even thinking if it is true or not. The news media does the same thing. You’ve most likely seen the video of the talking head saying the Chinese funny names of the Asian flight crash pilots.

So… Is any of it true?

Nothing in it can be confirmed except the skittles and the hoodie.

“Was a[sic] honor student with a 3.7 GPA”

3.7 GPA seems false based on a Facebook post by one of his friends.

Kind of hard to get a 3.7 when your never in class.

“Was accepted into college on a full-ride”

Hmm… had just turned 17. Not many kids getting a “full ride” scholarship at 16 years old.

“Was a volunteer of over 600 service hours.”

Hmm… that would be 15 full time weeks of volunteerism. Between school and weed, when would he have the time?

“Was a devoted member of his church”

Couldn’t find any information about this being true anywhere.

“Was a loyal friend and loving son.”

“Was an innocent boy.”

This was the most interesting one. What does that mean?

Does it mean he didn’t illegally smoke weed? I don’t think he is over 18 and living in Colorado or Washington state:

These are from his cell phone:

Maybe they are just pictures of someone else’s plant. Maybe he was just smoking cigarettes or vaping.

I’m a big fan of Occam’s razor though.

On to the Skittles and the “Arizona Ice Tea” he bought at the 7-11.

Well apparently it wasn’t exactly “Ice Tea”… it was Watermelon Fruit Drink.

Did I just use watermelon in the same article talking about a black person? Is it racist? NO. It’s what he bought. Why would I bring it up? Cause I’m racist and what to make that association? No.

I bring it up because the “Skittles” that have been used by the media to make him look so innocent… could have had an alternate usage.

Let’s check Trayvon’s facebook history:

So… he was looking for some Codeine to make something called “Lean”. I’m more fond of the other terms for the drink… sizzurp and purple drank.

They sound much more fun.

Traditionally made with Sprite, Codeine, and Jolly Ranchers… it has also been popular to make it with Skittles… and …….. Watermelon fruit juice.

So do the Skittles make him look like an innocent kid or something else?

Sizzurp was mad famous by this guy… Lil Wayne.

Nice Grill…

Was he trying to emulate him? Who knows.

Returning to the innocence topic…

THC was found in his system at the time of death. Enough to cause a “level of impairment”

There is some evidence that Trayvon got some other guys (since he is underage) to buy him a cigar after he left the 7-11 before the shooting.

Was it to make a blunt? Who knows. Did he trade for weed? Who knows. Was Trayvon a drug dealer? Who knows… on Facebook we can see this:

Could he be distributing Ficus? Possibly. A guy always needs a Ficus.

Don’t want to make any assumptions.

“Martin, 17, was suspended by Miami-Dade County schools because traces of marijuana were found in a plastic baggie in his book bag, family spokesman Ryan Julison said.”

Can we not make any assumptions? Is that not allowed?

Within the opening weeks of the 2012-2013 school year, Martin was seen by a School Resource Officer on the school’s surveillance camera in an unauthorized area “hiding and being suspicious.”

It was then that the police officer stated he saw Martin mark up a door with a permanent marker, defacing it with “WTF”.

The next day the school police searched his backpack searching for the graffiti marker.
Instead the officer reported finding 12 pieces of women’s jewelry according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald.

Besides the numerous silver wedding bands and diamond earrings, the pack also contained a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report was described as a “burglary tool”.

The police report went on to state the officer asked Martin if the jewelry belonged to his family or a girlfriend.

“Martin replied it’s not mine. A friend gave it to me,” he responded, according to the report.”

Did Trayvon Martin deserve to be shot because of this stuff? NO.

Does this stuff make it okay that he was shot? NO.

The reason I post this stuff is because I’m angry about the disinformation and the media, social and news, just blindly believing the picture that is painted for them.

I believe the reason the outrage is so strong right now is because most people believe the rosy story that is painted in front of them.

The truth needs to come out. Maybe it will make the situation slightly less painful.

A friend of mine said today, “That could have been my son.” I wanted to disagree with him… he wouldn’t raise his son this way. I don’t think his son is a drug dealing sizzurp drinking, jewelery theif. Was Trayvon Martin any of that? I don’t know. But I think people need all the information before making any assumptions one way or the other. The point is… the “meme” was disingenuous.
